Pondapple Maintenance Association
Unofficial Annual Meeting Notes
March 21, 2009
-
David and Duke each had Board terms which were expiring. Both were re-elected by
an overwhelming majority of those casting votes. No other nominees were presented for voting.
-
Finances: Accounts Payable outstanding are our remaining payments (thru July) for hurricane clean-up.
Reserves continue to be stable.
There is a sizeable amount of unpaid Dues for this quarter. One house in the HOA is in foreclosure.
-
The outer wall was re-painted by Hackberry HOA. Signage is to be re-done,
materials (incl. tile background) at our expense.
-
Park benches, light posts, and mailboxes are all to be re-painted in forest green. (Mailbox
numbers will probably be clear-coated rather than re-numbering every one; TBA.) In-process.
-
A resident injured themself on the pathway extension to Powerline Road. It's not entirely
clear who has responsibility for that spot of land with various rights-of-way, but our
insurer is settling with plaintiff's attorneys. In the meantime, to prevent future accidents
a fence was erected to prevent leaving or entering the neighborhood at that location, it
being determined that mere signage (own risk, no trespassing, etc.) was insufficient insulation
from liability.
-
A major water leak in the sprinkler system was discovered by the Verde School fence and repaired.
By now the mud thrown out of the sprinklers onto your car should be all rinsed off again!
It is likely that more sprinkler work will be necessary, as the thin-wall PVC pipe finally
starts to crack from age.
-
This year, our trees will be pruned by cropping (or crown reduction), as opposed to year-before-last,
when opening-up (or thinning) was done to forestall hurricane tip-overs. Bids still out.
-
A robbery or burglary was reported in the neighborhood. Keep your doors locked when you're out,
and keep your eyes open.
-
A newsletter has been proposed. It's been a while. Contact Edi if you want to help. A directory was
proposed, since the last one (courtesy of our neighborhood realtors, thank you!) has gotten out-of-date.
-
Various minor but annoying infractions of the law were discussed:
-
In light of the lawsuit, motor scooter liability was reviewed. The community forbids operation
on our paths and park ways. City ordinance prohibits operation on the streets (except for
licensed vehicles & operators). Our speed bumps are properly marked. Thus injured children (and
bystanders) are on the heads of the parents. You can call the police if you see something on
the roadway that makes you concerned.
-
Lack of poop-scooping was brought up. It is against city ordinances not to clean up,
but bringing in the police might be a bit extreme. Shouldn't even be necessary -- clean
up your own pet's poop!
-
Noise complaints are somewhat easier to get the police involved in. If you have a complaint,
call the city while it's going on.
