Pondapple Maintenance Association
Unofficial Monthly Board Meeting Notes
September 12, 2012
All Board members were in attendance.
-
Finances: We currently have a stable checking account and Reserve
account has increased slightly. Rent being collected on the
foreclosed house is helping to build up our reserve fund each month,
while legal procedures continue.
-
Two ficus trees in a common area which were dying due to infestations
of white flies and spiral whiteflies have been treated by
"ProfessionalPests" at a cost of $6000, far less than our expense
would be to have them removed; we hope for complete recovery.
-
One of our streetlights which was leaning, fell into the lake across
from Verde Elementary School after the tropical storm passed through.
FPL was called and disconnected electricity to the light.
Arrangements have been made with an electrician to reroute power and
the light will be removed. Via Verde had discussed shoring up the
banks of the lake but did not follow through due to lack of funds. A
Via Verde meeting is coming up soon and this may be discussed again.
-
Evergreen Landscapers have not been meeting our expectations lately,
with respect to trimming infrequently and setting mowers so low that
lawns are damaged. It was decided to take bids for a new landscaper
to take over when the current contract expires.
-
A motion to have Board meetings quarterly whenever
possible passed unanimously, and the date of the next meeting was set for
Wed, Dec. 5 at 7 pm.
-
A complaint was raised about a party at a neighbor's house on
Brookshire Terrace, during which the partygoers threw trash over the
fence into his yard. The offender was called and cleanup was
arranged. Same neighbor has been putting his dogs outside at 5:30
a.m. and disturbing neighbors with their loud barking. Also this
neighbor frequently parks cars on the street in violation of our
rules.
-
Some residents repeatedly leave trash cans and bins out on the wrong
days or long after pickup. We need to remind these people. Board
members will be walking through the neighborhood to see which roofs
are in great need of cleaning, then notifying owners responsible. The
HOA has arranged for the repair of one resident's fence which fell
down after the recent storm, and payment has been arranged with the
owner who is currently out of state.
-
The Vice President announced that he plans not to run for Board next spring.
